South Gippsland Deer Action Group

Picturesque, but really destructive

Fish Creek Landcare, through South Gippsland Landcare Network, are part of the

South Gippsland Deer Action Group, established to facilitate the control of deer on

private land. We are very concerned about the impact feral deer are having on the environment of South Gippsland. Trees are damaged, understory destroyed, riparian areas and creeks despoiled by wallows, seeds and flowers are eaten, revegetation plantings pulled up and eaten. For farmers, grazing area is eaten, fences damaged or destroyed, danger of disease transmission - the damage multiplies.

We have held two public meetings in the Fish Creek Hall about this problem and

encourage our members to report all deer sightings, damage and control measures on the Feral Deer Scan website or app

https://www.feralscan.org.au/deerscan/default.aspx

and send them information about deer control options.
